Free Workshop for Nebraska Educators & Public Employees

BEYOND NPERS
Retirement Planning

“I have NPERS, what else would I need for retirement?!”

We’ve heard it again and again… An educator or other public employee comes to the conclusion: NPERS is all they’ll ever need for retirement.

And don’t get us wrong — NPERS is great!

Especially with enough years of service, it can provide significant income throughout retirement.

But it’s not designed as a salary replacement. And retirement is long — often 20-30 years! That’s a lot of life to prepare for. The economy can change in a big way. And if your finances are overly dependent on NPERS and Social Security, you run the risk of your retirement not being quite what you’ve been looking forward to.

That’s why we emphatically believe: Your retirement planning doesn’t stop with NPERS. There’s just so much more to consider — and so much more that’s possible — when you think and plan beyond NPERS.

Come learn how NPERS fits into a bigger picture of retirement planning:

✅ Before Retirement — To be more financially prepared.
✅ The Big Decision — How to know when you’re ready.
✅ Through Retirement — Plan for the life you want.

No cost. No obligation. Free educational presentation. Taught by a Nebraska educator and licensed financial advisor.

⚠️

We are NOT directly affiliated with NPERS.
That’s an advantage for you.

NPERS regularly offers classes on how the system works. You can get handbooks and resources to answer most technical questions about the program and your benefits. But because they’re primarily limited to talking about NPERS itself, they don’t typically answer one critical question:

→ “How does NPERS fit into my bigger picture?”

As independent financial advisors, we’re in a great position to answer that question. We’re not limited to just explaining how NPERS works. We can answer questions and cover NPERS benefits in the bigger context of your life, your family, your other savings and investments.

That’s why we often have NPERS members coming to us as clients. They may have accumulated significant NPERS benefits. But they’re still completely unclear on what their finances could look like in retirement. And they just need a little guidance.

And when we work with clients, we often recommend additional planning beyond NPERS, to help them pursue the retirement they’ve been hoping for.

And now we’ve put together some of our most important best practices into a free, one-night educational event, titled Beyond NPERS.

💡

Here’s what you’ll discover at this event.

✅ A simple way to estimate your NPERS retirement income.

The hidden weakness in fixed income retirement benefits.

✅ How to build confidence with a 3-part retirement income plan.

✅ One income source that grew 3X as fast as inflation from 1960 to 2025.

✅ Why it’s dangerous to consider NPERS as a “salary replacement.”

PLUS:

➡️ 3 essential questions your retirement income plan must answer.

👥

Who should attend?

This may be a fit if:

✅ You’re a vested NPERS member.

✅ You’re a current or former Nebraska educator or other public employee.

✅ You want more options for your retirement finances.

✅ You’re curious to see what’s possible beyond NPERS.

🎓

Taught by Dr. Josh Wilken, Ed.D.
A Licensed Financial Advisor and Nebraska Educator

Dr. Wilken (LinkedIn) came to his career as a financial advisor after nearly 20 years in education. He’s been a teacher, principal, district coordinator, educational consultant, and continues his education career as an adjunct professor.

He’s also a NPERS member, having participated in the program throughout his career. Not only that, his wife is also a Nebraska educator and NPERS member.

It may be needless to say, but Josh finds it deeply important to understand what NPERS can and can’t do for your family in retirement! And due to his long-term participation in the program plus his interest in financial planning, he’s developed a deep understanding of the topic.

This is part of why he’s so passionate about this and has spearheaded offering this workshop for other NPERS members, including educators and other Nebraska public employees.
